Fitness and a Healthy living

Inside & Outside of the Classroom

Staying healthy, strong, and fit are all very important to me. I share these healthy lifestyles with my students. I run a Mindful Exercise Club every week at school and have helped coach multiple cheerleading teams.

Winter sports

Working at a Sports Academy has its benefits! Beijing Haidian Foreign Language School offers disciplined Tennis, Golf, Equestrian, Water Sports, and Fencing programs, as well as year round sports trainings and events. This picture is one of our ski/snowboarding days from January 2021.

Colleague Sports club

Nothing boosts employee moral more than regular exercise and team fitness. Starting a cross-departmental, weekly Sports Club was one of the best decisions to make colleagues feel a sense of belonging and inclusion. No matter what your athletic ability, all are welcome and made to feel included.

Meditation

Yoga, meditation, and relaxation with students for a balanced personal and school life. This picture is from my weekly Mindful Exercise Club.

YOGA AND STRENGTH

My own personal fitness story started from a very young age when I began my dance career. I have been practicing dance (in one way or another), gymnastics, cheerleading, yoga, pilates, barre and fitness ever since. There's no slowing down, now.

Involvement in the Ukrainian community

Being raised in a Ukrainian-American household had a huge impact on my upbringing. I have spent my life working to make a difference in the Ukrainian community in the United States, advocating for Ukrainian youth, culture, history and arts.

CYM - UKrainian Youth Association

Continuing my family legacy, I have been involved in CYM - Ukrainian Youth Association since childhood, attending weekly meetings and yearly summer camps. From the moment I was old enough I volunteered my time as a counselor and teacher. In 2008, I received a scholarship to attend the prestigious CYM Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. Throughout the years I have attended numerous workshops, conferences, and events. I have poured endless amounts of hours into making this organization the best it can be for Ukrainian-American Youth, notably helping run events like the 50th Anniversary of Oselia CYM Холодний Яр. I'm still involved in Druzhynnyk efforts and regularly attend online meetings to encourage and improve the future of CYM in America.

Standing in solidarity with ukraine, the continued efforts

Ukraine continues to fight for its language, culture, borders, and freedom. I stand in solidarity with Ukraine and donate my time on a regular basis to the causes associated with Ukrainian independence. Together, with other Ukrainians in the United States, we have raised school supplies, clothing, medical supplies, and countless sums for those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. I am in personal contact with the individuals running this fundraiser, and I urge everyone who can, to donate. The supplies and funds are appropriated immediately, with secure contacts in Ukraine. Click here to donate now. Слава Україні!

Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center of buffalo

Volunteering my time at Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center of Buffalo is another proud family tradition. My parents and grandparents on both sides helped envision and strengthen Dnipro to what it has become today. The building is a historical and artistic masterpiece, showcasing Ukrainian art and culture in a unique way that no one has replicated in North America. I became Bar Manager in 2010, planning large scale events and overseeing multiple bars on site.  I have helped organize weddings, political gatherings, art exhibitions, concerts, fundraisers, and cultural events.

Notable events: Ralph Nader appearancesTorn Space shows and fundraisers, Ukrainian-American Day (annual event), Forgotten Buffalo tours
